Grand Island is also called Grande island in french. This island was formed by a narrow river channel of approx 28 miles upstream. Grand Island is located in North Goa. Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary was known as Mollem Game Sanctuary. This Sanctuary covers an area of approx 108 sqm. The most attractive and tourist attraction in this sanctuary is the Evergreen forest and deciduous forest. In this forest, there are approx 722 species. Jeep rides can be done in this Sanctuary and many private and public agencies are there to provide you with Jeep facilities. You can take a ride in a jeep and can spot various mammals like deer, wild boar, mouse, sambar, langur, Bengal tiger, etc. If you are a wildlife photographer they will be thrilled here since several animals and birds can be captured.
Tamba Surla Mahadev temple is a perfect getaway from the crowded streets of Goa. This ancient temple was made in the 12th century which is one of the oldest temples of Goa. This temple is built using black basalt, the carving of elephants and horses. This temple is located in the middle of this Sanctuary. These are must-visit places near Dudhsagar waterfalls.
